Analysis of the Shoulder Case Logic SLRC-6

Case Logic SLRC-6

No doubt that the brand is best known photographic backpack LowePro . Maybe that's why, when someone proposes to buy a sling, the options seem limited to the models SlingShot 100 or 200 of this manufacturer and very rarely by their larger size, at 300. However they are by no means the only alternative.

Make a couple of months in Madrid Case Logic introduced its range of products for this season, and among them I noticed a strap that had a little resemblance to the SlingShot. Today, after trying for a few days, I tell you my impressions.

Probably the brand Case Logic sound like particularly as a manufacturer of bags for accessories computer. But it has a larger catalog, including various types of bags and backpacks photo, and even suitcases.

The shoulder SLRC-6 has a similar appearance to those of LowePro and the comparison is inevitable. Through its capacity would be at an intermediate point between the SlingShot 100 and SlingShot 200 , which is a success. First, because it does not compete as directly with them, but offers no alternative. And second, in my view, because it is a better measure for a strap. The LowePro 100, then stays small, and the 200 is beginning to be excessive if the charge to stop. In fact, fully charged, Case Logic is also too heavy. That's the biggest problem of bandits in general, that if you load much, just right shoulder accusing the effort to bring the full weight only. Camera strap

The shoulder strap Case Logic is divided into three separate covers. The top, side and front. In the front there is also a pocket where you can take a memory card, or a small notebook.

When we opened the front door we find space for four targets of medium size (it Justito a Canon 70-300 IS with hood reversed), being in the center another small pocket that covers the lateral accommodation.

Camera Backpack

Addressing this, we find room for the camera with a telephoto medium / long mounted (left) and, again, a small pocket for accessories. Finally, at the top (pictured right), still have room to carry some accessories, or the holding the keys, etc.. We can even use it to carry a second camera body to fit perfectly (the picture shows as a Canon 10-22 EFS does not hold even half the space.)

BandolierBackpack

Unlike LowePro, side and front covers are not attached, so we can access the front side while maintaining the fully closed. These two racks are coated with urethane to improve water resistance, so that even if the shoulder does not have a specific case, should hold up well in light rain. However, the top rack does not, which I think is a mistake. Taking it to the back will be the first in which the water falls and also we can take in that compartment material that should not be wet.

The inside of the strap is fully adjustable and can be left attached full capacity if needed. In LowePro, you can only leave the compartment transparent chamber, but the top is always separate. The spacers are held, as usual, with velcro, which in the upper compartment allows completely independent as it has Velcro on three sides, while the fourth is sewn. It would have been nice if they could also be joined by spacers that are completely without opening the side, so as to avoid moving the content if the hollow of one of the goals we have, for example, a collection of filters. One detail that I did not like the padding edge is partially covering two of the gaps for goals (at the top of the third photo). It only difficulty keeping the material and especially the extraction if we wear the visors. Actually remove the lens hood attached targets is complicated in all the holes provided, since the latter tends to get caught.

Case Logic Bandolier Looking at the outside, find a good padded back and shoulder strap. The bottom is harder, because it has a strengthening of EVA improves resistance and waterproofing. Is missing that would have applied the same kind of protection on the side that has no lid, because given how close to the shoulder is not uncommon to end flat on the floor on this side rather than in the base (such as seen in the last picture of this article.)

On the pocket of the front cover there are two straps closed aimed'm not sure (perhaps only aesthetic). With a pair of straps (not included) could be transported comfortably lightweight monopod, but it seems that the pocket can hold a computer and too heavy. I was able to bring my monopod smoothly than 1.5 kg, for a short time, but it seems the most convenient solution for this weight, I would not use it so regularly.

A major shortcoming is a side strap that helps to separate the strap of the neck. The SlingShot if they have it and with heavy loads much more comfortable transport. In the Case Logic, when we took full, soon will miss.

Ultimately, the Case Logic SLRC-6 is a good choice for those seeking a sling, auque has some shortcomings must be taken into account. As an added benefit that they are adequately sized, independent and covers the possibility of joining the full capacity of the pack in a single compartment. In the section of the disadvantages it should be noted the lack of a lateral strap, top zipper without protection for water and the padded rim which makes use of two lens spaces.

The resistance should not be a problem, since the manufacturer offers a warranty of 25 years, which is not guaranteed LowePro lifetime, but for practical purposes it comes pretty close.

As the economic issue, Case Logic indicates a recommended price of 59.99 euros (VAT included). Looking at a store that has this and SlingShot to compare, we can find the Case Logic for 57 euros, compared with 73 of the SlingShot 100 and 82 of the 200.
