Canon EOS 1000D, the new generation

Canon EOS 1000D Canon has just introduced a new generation or digital SLR camera segment, located in the lower range. The EOS 1000D is one of the models that are expected as part of the rumors about Photokina , and is the cheapest SLR and compact ever manufactured by Canon and is more than likely become the next bestseller by the Japanese.

To put a little to the reader is to explain how the numbering scheme of the EOS , and this applies both to the range of analog and digital. Cameras with a single digit, are the professional range and are much more sophisticated the lower the number, provided they relate to the same period. So the EOS 1 would be better than 3, and is the 5. Since arriving in the EOS 1, there is lower numbers (valid only natural) will begin to put names in the form of letters. Digital portfolio currently have the EOS 1Ds Mark III , EOS 1D Mark III and EOS 5D .

Below digit cameras are the two that are semi-professional or advanced amateur. In this case, the greater is the latest figure is the camera and, therefore, the better. Currently the only existing digital model is the Canon EOS 40D .

One step below lie the three-digit models, for fans. Back to more modern. This is the case of the EOS 400D and EOS 450D .

And finally we have the four-digit model, a category that existed in analog, but still had not appeared in digital. Are the segment of entry and is less expensive cameras. Now the first digital model is the Canon EOS 1000D .

The EOS 1000D features a 10.1 megapixel sensor with dust reduction system, and ability to use Live View mode through its 2.5-inch TFT screen. It incorporates the latest processor signature, the Digic III and can make up to three JPEG per second that are stored on an SD / SDHC. You can also shoot at that rate up to 514 photos, compared with 27 of the 53 400D or the 450D. RAW can do 5 photos at 1.5 per second.

The body's official price is 555 euros, while the kit with 18-55 IS lens normally cost € 655.

With these features, we can liken to a EOS 400D updated with the latest technologies ( Live View and Digic III ), but which has been cut autofocus system, for the 1000D has 7 focus points compared with 9 of the 400D. Thus the camera disappears from the catalog is probably the 400D, but for now remains in the page digital SLRs from Canon .

Remember that when Canon introduce the EOS 350D , was recalled the EOS 300D . However, the launch of the EOS 400D is maintained, one step below the 350D. The same happened when they introduced the 450D, 350D removing, but keeping the 400D. Thus, Canon and had a lower input range of its latest models of three digits since August 2006, which was neither more nor less than the previous model.

But keep the old model can give a feeling of being somewhat outdated and limiting sales, so after finding that there were sufficient acceptance, have decided to create a range with its own identity. Given that each three-digit digital model has set a sales record (to the 450D has not given time) is more than likely that the EOS 1000D is the new flagship stores.

To easily see the differences between the 1000D and the 400D, we can see the product comparator Site of Canon Europe (in the Canon Spain , always take longer to update and now in the comparator does not appear the characteristics of the 1000D) . To ease the task, and I've compared the features shown in yellow in one of the two models is better (data 400D is missing a data error on the Canon, if the frame is because there is no differences). As for the optional battery and handle are the same model that was introduced with the EOS 450D .

Feel the quality of the image, but is very large and did not want to weigh a lot.

    A great post!

Thank you very much for the information, and all the gigs you've taken to prepare it.

A week and a half going to Japan. I'll go through the photo shops in Tokyo one of the early days, I can report prices of some things, and back to Tokyo (on 17-18 July), I can buy something, if you're interested.
