TinEye searches for images for comparison

Adseok Today I read a blog about positioning , an interesting entry on a new tool that is currently in private beta. This is TinEye , a search of images that do not use words that describe them, but analyzes the image and searching for their intrinsic characteristics.

Currently, image search based on some kind of text, such as from the file name, to the text surrounding the image, through the keywords embedded as metadata. In many cases this can be useful, but is of little use when we want to find a picture as or very similar to another reference. For example, if we find out if someone has used a picture of us.

TinEye solves this by analyzing the characteristics of the photo and others like searching the Internet. You can even find photos that have been modified and will show the differences.

For now is in private beta, which means that we must try to sign up and accept you. Right now I'm already on the waiting list to see if I can prove early and comprehensive information with my own impressions, but judging by the demo from their website , look good.

(UPDATE: now you can see the proof of TinEye )

The same company has similar applications to image searches. Caught my attention one that seeks images used in print media and appears capable of detecting, cuts, silhouettes, resizing and overlays without any problem. If it works as it seems is simply awesome.
