Castle Castilnovo
In the province of Segovia, near the Gorges of Duratón, stands Castilnovo Castle, a fortification that, surprisingly, not in a high place, but in a position slightly below the surrounding terrain.
It is a Moorish castle whose origin is unclear. It is believed that the first building could be due to Abderraman I in the eighth century, but the absence of remnants of that era also suggests that either the time of Mansur in the tenth century
Castilnovo Castle has a square and consists of six towers, half round, half square, with many balconies. The walls are flanked by turrets.
In the nineteenth century Catalan painter Jose de Galofré restored it and built the south wing of the Patio de Armas. The latest reforms are the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, so it is in good condition.
Today the castle is owned by the Spanish-Mexican partnership Castilnovo SA , which is used for events and can be rented in whole or in part.
You can also visit in groups upon request by phone. The tour (which I have yet to do) has a cost of 4 € per person and lasts about 30 minutes.
Despite the grove that surrounds it, from the nearby highway SG-V-2346 are good views of the castle, so it's worth walking tour Down Castroserna direction to stop at the best sites.
